HOLDING AN UNBORN BABY HOSTAGE

While browsing the internet for current news, I ran across the article about a twenty-six year old mother who intends on having an abortion on July 10th That is only eleven days away. She has posted a website informing the world that unless pro-life believers donate a million dollars to her unborn baby the child will be aborted. (Yes, really) She states that she knows this will not happen because the religious right does not actually care about saving the lives of the unborn – merely about controlling the lives of others. She writes that she is making an example of her abortion because it calls attention to the power hungry drive of the pro-lifers and that drive needs to stop.
As an expecting mother myself (and a recovering pro-choice believer) the only conceivable reason that I can imagine this woman is doing such an inhuman thing is to find out how much power she herself has over people. It is one of the most despicable actions I have ever seen by a human being. And I am a firm believer that there is a reason for everything. Even a reason why she is doing this. My goal is the hope that you will do the right thing and merely ignore her. Or you can donate money. Regardless, the baby is in God's hands- not hers. And only she will have to live with the consequences of her actions- not us.
How much power do people have over an unborn soul?
None. People have no power over souls. Only God does. You cannot kill a soul. I cannot kill a soul. When women get abortions that do not destroy souls. God has them all. Born or unborn, they are his. When God gives us a child to raise he is allowing us that blessing to hold, love, teach, laugh with and grow old with. If we do not accept His gift, that is our choice. But, oh, how much we miss! That is the true tragedy. God will forgive us anything, even those who reject his greatest blessing. If God did not forgive us anything, our race would have ended long ago with a great flood and a shrug.
Do I hate this woman?
No, but I pity her. I wish she could see how much God loves her and instead of using her pregnancy as a slap in the face to conservatives, I wish she would spend her time making a baby book, imagining what her child will look like, what his or her voice will sound like, or remembering what it was like when she was a young girl and cherished the baby doll she pretended was real- and exactly when and why she lost that magical, mothering instinct God instilled in her on the day he made Eve.
What does the young woman really want?
She has posted the site completely anonymously and states that she will NOT keep the money or her child if the money is raised. She will give the baby up for adoption and the money will stay in a trust fund until the child reaches the age of 21. If only a portion of the money is raised, she will return all of the funds and continue on with the abortion as planned. Basically, her goal is not to raise the money but to prove to us all that we pro-lifers are power-hungry hypocrites and nothing more.
Conclusion
Look, we can all probably donate the money to this woman (who in my mind should be treated as a criminal and sent to jail for holding her unborn baby hostage) but if the money is not raised then we can all can still be sure of one thing- this baby is in God's hands. His soul is protected by God and if this woman is moved to compassion by the love of God and keeps the child then I wish her well. That is what I would sincerely love to see happen. If not, then I sincerely and truly believe that there is a judgment day- that on that day we will be held accountable for the things we do- and most likely the highest prerogative on God's list will be how we have cared for the children he has blessed us with. And because of this reason, I fear for her.
To be totally honest I believe the whole thing is a complete fabrication. I prefer to believe that. I would prefer that over the idea of an expecting mother taking her pregnancy so lightly as to benefit from it or bully others.
